MacWorld kicks off today with Steve Jobs taking to the stage and hopefully announcing a stream of cool Apple gadgets. Rumours are flying around the web with some sites reporting that Apple are about to release the first generation of Macs powered by Intel processors. The most likely products touted for release today are:
- A revised iBook with Intel processors.
- A revised Mac mini with Intel processors and possibly Intel Viiv technology.
- An updated iPod shuffle capable of holding more tunes.
- iLife ‘06, which may have a new consumer-oriented web design app.
Apart from these, some believe that we are going to get a new Apple iPhone. The only supporting evidence behind this rumour seems to be iPhone.org pointing to Apple.com (has been for ages) and Cingular discontinuing the Motorola ROKR with iTunes.
Personally I predict a fairly muted keynote because Apple are trending away from making all their product announcements at scheduled trade shows. There won’t be any revisions to the iPod line aside from the shuffle, or else Apple risk upsetting a lot of new iPodders.
The show kicks off at 9AM PST. Apple will not stream the event live, but you can find a good list of sites offering coverage here.
